Light & Wonder Extends Global Licensing Partnership With WBDGTE To Offer Premium Games To Players Online

Yesterday, July 12, Light & Wonder Inc., formerly Scientific Games Corp, a flagship developer of land-based and digital games based in Las Vegas, Nevada, along with its affiliates, revealed an extended multi-year international licensing alliance with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment (WBDGTE) to produce the latest outstanding game worlds for clients via the Light & Wonder’s content aggregation platform, the first of which is WILLY WONKA™: WORLD OF WONKA, a physical slot popular with players for decades in land-based casinos, which will now be available online.

Goals of the partnership:

As part of this long-term partnership, Light & Wonder’s in-house game creation teams will use a number of highly successful brand licensing offerings from its already long-time partner Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment, with titles that will be in correspondence with verticals set to reach regulated markets across the globe via the OPENGAMING™ ecosystem. Furthermore, the agreement is the next stage of Light & Wonder’s omni-channel content strategy, as the firm continues to build alliances that help it solidify its flagship position as a top-tier content creator worldwide.

Commenting on the partnership, Dylan Slaney, CEO of iGaming at Light & Wonder, said: “The Warner Bros. Discovery brand portfolio is legendary, and our partnership has led to the creation of some of the world’s most popular casino content, including WILLY WONKA: WORLD OF WONKA. To bring this title online for the first time is incredibly exciting and we can’t wait to deliver for our operator partners and their players. This is a huge step forward in terms of presenting our omni-channel vision to the world, as we continue to develop the most entertaining branded content available anywhere on the market.”

Popular hits as part of the agreement:

The first to be released will be WILLY WONKA: WORLD OF WONKA as part of the new extended licensing deal as mentioned above. This was a smashing hit in the US and worldwide and features legendary characters and moments from the famous 1971 movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. What’s more, as for the online version of the game, it captures all the thrill of the original and is slated to launch in the UK, US and Europe. In addition, the Light & Wonder’s content aggregation platform is slated to feature a number of other Wonka-themed titles across all online gaming verticals.

Light & Wonder’s other upcoming land-based hit is THE WIZARD OF OZ™: ROAD TO EMERALD CITY which will also launch online, with extra branded games from the Warner Bros. Discovery portfolio to follow. In addition to the Wonka titles, more hit Wizard of Oz games are slated for release during 2024 and beyond.
