The 2015 KPMG Isle of Man eGaming Summit surveys the future of the industry

The Isle of Man (IoM) is recognized as one of the most reputable eGaming jurisdictions in the world, and KPMG’s eGaming Summits have established themselves as the eGaming industry’s premiere events for stimulating discussions, industry presentations, and authoritative panel sessions. This year’s IoM conference brought together over 200 key stakeholders and industry representatives to discuss the future of online gaming, and teamed up with the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL) for three master classes, covering international law, financing, and tax considerations.

The event began with the Minister of the Department of Economic Development, the Honorable Laurence Skelly, announcing that eGaming has become the island’s largest economic sector contributing 16.7 percent of its revenue – an increase of 3.2 percent from the previous year. These statistics further show the substantive business environment that has developed on the island to support the eGaming industry investors and operators.

Panel discussions moderated by and consisting of top tier industry leaders provided insights into recent technology developments, the perils of cloud computing, the psychology of gambling, multi-jurisdictional licensing, corporate social responsibility, and the newest trends in internet and smartphone usage as the drivers of innovation and technology development.

KPMG’s one-day invitation only eGaming Summit came to a close while assessing the greatest potentials for the future of the industry generally, and IoM eGaming businesses specifically. Projections of both the challenges and envisioned opportunities for 2016 prepared the participants for executing successful strategies forward.
